What is an Opticeutical?

Human supplementation has progressed through three stages over three centuries. The fourth stage is the Opticeutical — a bioregulator-grounded nutraceutical built on six decades of peer-reviewed Khavinson research, formulated under cGMP discipline, and available over the counter for the first time.

The evolution

Four stages. Each built on the last. The fourth has a name.

01

Food

Hippocrates · pre-history

The original input. Food and medicine were inseparable. Hippocrates: let food be medicine.

02

Vitamins

Lind 1795 · DSHEA 1994

Isolated compounds addressing deficiency. Lind's scurvy cure. The vitamin industry. Supplementation as correction.

03

Nutraceuticals

DeFelice 1989

The term coined in 1989. The category that promised more than it could prove. A name that came to mean very little.

04

Opticeuticals

Atumnus LLC 2026

The fourth stage. Bioregulator compounds. Six decades of peer-reviewed research. A qualification standard that means something.

Working definition
An Opticeutical is a bioregulator-grounded nutraceutical formulated for over-the-counter consumer access. Built on Khavinson-lineage short-chain peptide compounds. Manufactured under cGMP discipline. Verified per batch. Operating within the DSHEA framework.

Above nutraceuticals

Nutraceuticals fill nutritional gaps. Opticeuticals carry compounds with a documented gene-expression mechanism — a structurally different category of biological action backed by six decades of published research.

Below Endoceuticals

Endoceuticals are the prescription tier of the same science — physician-supervised, clinical pathway. Opticeuticals are the OTC consumer tier. Same Khavinson lineage. DSHEA-compliant. No prescription required.

Defined by Atumnus LLC

The Opticeutical category was defined, named, and governed by Atumnus LLC. The term, the qualification standard, and the category architecture are proprietary to Atumnus LLC and its operating entities.

The research lineage

Six decades of research. No consumer access. Until now.

Professor Vladimir Khavinson (1946–2024) and the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology produced 775 published papers and 196 patents across 53 years of research into short-chain peptide bioregulators.

The compounds existed. The research was published. Consumer-accessible formulations built on that research lineage did not exist in the US market. Opticeuticals closes that gap.

The science

Endogenic pharmacology. The science of healing from within.

The discipline that studies modulation of gene expression and cellular function through the body's own native regulatory architecture — rather than through external override. Every Opticeutical operates in this mode.

The mechanism

Short-chain peptides (2–7 amino acids) cross cell membranes, enter the nucleus, and bind directly to DNA promoter sequences — activating tissue-specific gene expression that age, disease, and stress have depleted.

Tissue specificity

Each bioregulator is designed against a specific tissue. GHK-Cu for dermal structure. PDRN for barrier repair. Epithalon for telomere regulation. The compound and the tissue are matched.

Endogenic vs exogenic

Exogenic pharmacology overrides — receptor blockade, enzyme inhibition, signal suppression. Endogenic pharmacology restores. Complementary disciplines. Opticeuticals operate exclusively in the endogenic mode.

The research basis

Six decades of Khavinson publications, validated across institutions in Russia, Europe, and the US. Indexed. Peer-reviewed. Publicly accessible at endogenicpharmacology.com.

What qualifies

Five criteria for Opticeutical designation.

01

Khavinson-lineage compound

The active must be a short-chain peptide bioregulator — two to seven amino acid residues — with published peer-reviewed research in the Khavinson lineage behind it.

02

cGMP manufacturing

Current Good Manufacturing Practice discipline across formulation, quality control, stability testing, and documentation.

03

ISO 17025 per-batch verification

Every batch verified by accredited third-party laboratories for identity, potency, and contaminant load before release.

04

Delivery integrity

The delivery format must preserve compound integrity through to point of use — freeze-dried, stabilized sublingual, or verified intranasal systems.

05

No structure/function overclaim

Opticeuticals operate within the DSHEA framework. No drug claims. The science lives at the institutional domain. The product makes appearance and support claims only.
